Everyones system is different i have the linksys wrt54g and my 9300 connects sometimes at 54mbs and then drops to 11mbps. My sisters inspiron 1000 does the same and were in the same house. Its wierd i guess.

Nothing like hard wire connected to laptop. My 9300 is connected with wire 100mbps. When im outside i will get neighbors connections and it fluctuates between 11 and sometime 5.5mbps. I dont know how to refresh the card or like reset it since its a centrino laptop. My sisters inspiron has the dell card that is on the side that u can just eject whenever u want.
When she takes the card out and puts it back in she connects at 54mbps. Aint she lucky to be able to do that. Well anyways just my input on wireless there is never a solid connection. The Intel ProSet connection mgmt utility has some additional features like being able to put ur neighbour's n/w (to which u seem to connect every so often) in an list of n/w to be EXCLUDED. This way ur nic will not attempt to connect to other n/w, listed in the list of exclusions.

Also check the firmware on ur router. Looks like a router issue to me. I have a 9300 with the a/b/g card and I had similar issues connecting to my home n/w. I had a 4 yr old SMC wireless router. Bought a new NetGear WGT624 and now connection is stable as is speed. Try getting a friend's router and/or a new one from store and check it out.
